Unplugged Concert at ANOV Art Gallery

This airbnb experience was fantastic! Eun Ji, the organizer, is part of the KunstBloom art collective. It includes a small gallery in Hannam-Dong, at which she arranges monthly concerts of upcoming musicians. Tonight’s first performer was Bad Dovi, who sang ballads reflecting human struggles that he all wrote himself. The second act blew me away: Hye Eun has a very beautiful voice and convinces her audience with a very sensitive and authentic performance (also on guitar). The young gentleman accompanying her on piano did an outstanding job “feeling the music” and adding virtuosity. Hye Eun is very modest, too much so in light of how she captivates her audience!

What made this evening exceptional for me was that Eun Ji asked a friend to translate everything for me into English. Each singer told the stories around their songs – essential for understanding the context and them as humans. Eun Saem brought this to life with a very expressive yet brief translation that really brought the point across. She has a gift for it and it made my day! As my days in Korea fly by, I can only reiterate that it’s the humans I meet here that make this journey so special. Thank you from he bottom of my heart, Eun Ji and Eun Saem, for organizing this so well and caring for me!
