Yet another cool experience I booked through airbnb. The lead performer was a Korean pianist who currently lives in Paris. An experimental video added to the experience. Well, this concert was too experimental for me. After all I’m a straight forward drummer 🙂 But it was interesting to visit an underground venue dedicated to all forms of jazz, and the people who attended. But the kicker was JongHee’s tour through cafés and her explanation how Seongsu has morphed from a factory district to a hip quarter of incredible cafés, boutiques and music clubs – not even visible to outsiders without JongHee’s guidance! Plus a gazillion of small retail shoe shops, offering tailored manufacture of shoes in a day – a major lure for my wife when we will be back together!

The cafés we visited were incredible in terms of design and atmosphere, including two that are owned by a former professor specializing in lighting. Now his cafés bring also him interior design business! Astronomical rents and gentrification will have negative effects over the coming years, small shop owners no longer being able to afford this location, or their buildings being torn down.

JongHee and I discovered that our passions overlap: She wants to experience 100jazzclubs, while it’s 100world cafés for me! We are both on our journey as professional coaches (life coaching utilizing music for her, business coaching for me). Plus we both offer our home and an experience on airbnb. Thank you JongHee for this extraordinary experience. She went the extra mile when there wasn’t even an experience scheduled for that day – she put in the extra date! Her passion and knowledge made this special!

Next time I will go to this jazz club!
