The Story of a Quilt

I am grateful that my wife Judith supported me travelling to Korea by myself. I found so many things that will be interesting for her when we go back to Korea the next time, together.

So here I’m back to minus 27 degrees in Whitehorse, with 25cm of new snow.

This quilt fell apart
It fell apart!

29 years ago I bought a quilt in Durango, Colorado, while I was getting my Instrument Rating as a pilot. When I told Jackie, the owner of the shop (I still remember her name!) that I wanted to buy that quilt, she refused to sell it because important personal memories were attached to it. BUT she said she would sew the exact same quilt for me and send it to Canada; where it’s been draped over our sofa since. The years took their toll, and the quilt’s colour and fabric deteriorated to a point of no return.

Two days ago I had a look at the sofa from the dinner table and found something was strange. The quilt shone so bright that I thought I had lost touch with reality. I got up and found a brand new quilt – which Judith had made for me while I was in Korea. See for yourself:

This new quilt illuminates the whole room!
It illuminates the whole room!
