The contrast between being a pedestrian in Whitehorse, Yukon, and Seoul couldn’t be more crass. Simply put – save yourself by not thinking you can walk across a pedestrian crossing unharmed in Korea. Driving in Korea is congested, Korean drivers have limited patience. There is an agressiveness that’s somewhere between French and German driving. So I like it 🙂
Koreans are even more rigid when it comes to parking their mobile treasures: Whenever they can, they will park in backwards; and even in winter their vehicles are spankin-clean. On the other hand, parking in city streets is pure anarchy! Small country, lots of cars. OK.
There are many Benzes and Beemers!
My friend drives a Mini! Yeah to German cars!
I love Korean bus drivers: They drive swiftly and boldly, getting you quickly to your destination. They could stop a little less abruptly though.
And then there are the couriers on their scooters – ignoring red lights and pedestrians entirely: They are on a timeline and don’t get paid much. Speaking of traffic lights: With Korean traffic lights, phases seem to take an eternity. Most people wait patiently – there are very few jaywalkers.

I have travelled to 31 countries so far. What exploring means to me: Venture into the Yukon backcountry by snowmobile - arriving at spectacular vistas with my buddy; enjoying world cafés (non-franchise please!) and the interesting conversations that blossom there; collaborating with free spirits. I feel attracted to people who truly care and have a backbone. Accountability and life-long learning are important to me. Political correctness is not my thing.
My interests include all things aviation, the global economy, entrepreneurship, drumming (funky grooves!), winter photography and Korea. I’m passionate about mentoring and coaching others. I am tutoring professionals from around the globe in conversational German and English.
