A Snowmobiling Adventure like no other

We left at 7:30 to catch a whole brilliant March 3. On the drive to Atlin we hit minus 27 degrees. Arriving at our cabin, I hoped my Skidoo would start….it took 184 pulls – a record. Of those, Scott did 100 pulls.

Days are getting longer now here at latitude 60, longer than in Vancouver, and no rain 🙂 The sun has lots of power and warmed things up to minus 10 during the day. With no wind, conditions were ideal. We picked an area for exploring where we wouldn’t see another soul. Snow conditions were between deep powder and blown packed snow with exposed rocks at higher elevations. It was a lot of work. Usually we are not happy until we get stuck and have to dig ourselves out. Not today – despite the deep powder.

We were richly rewarded by breathtaking views which photos cannot describe. Lunch on nature’s porch is a treat.

150cm snow blown and packed.

We returned to Whitehorse with aching bones and muscles, where Judith had prepared Deutscher Sauerbraten (German sour roast) for Scott, our two ladies and me. A memorable day!

150km – views. Devil’s Paw, Llewellyn Glacier, Atlin Lake with Teresa Island.
