Today’s Anti-Heroes
Media people who use the crisis for self-aggrandizing, with voices that portray themselves as the victims. Their alarmist and sensational language makes them energy-vampires.
Telecoms who try to push through new subsidies, disguised as help for customers in crisis.
Price-gougers
Today’s Heroes
Dr. Brian Goldman (White Coat – Black Art radio show): This morning (March 24) he delivered hope and common sense to listeners on CBC (Canada’s government radio): Canada’s health care system is experiencing the calm before the storm; there are enough medical staff, masks and ventilators; camaraderie among medical staff provides the emotional support they often think they don’t need. Dr. Armstrong stated that he is totally energized and passionate about his front-line role as an emergency doctor. His biggest wish: Real-time Corona-testing! What a cool guy!

Can you see “Are you lonely, too?”

Peter Armstong, business correspondent for CBC: In his report about the markets he was factual and pointedly non-alarmist. Him adding a bit of humour lightened up my day.
Amazon – yes, Amazon: They banned 4,000 resellers from their platform because of price-gouging. Thank you!
My biggest Fear
My biggest fear is another collapse of the financial system. In a situation that already has people on the brink, that could lead to civil unrest. I’m not worried about stock markets – they were overdue for a reaction. But highly leveraged derivates in the trillions, and mortgage-backed securities worry me (deja vu!). Some mortgage-backed funds have already become illiquid because of investor calls. Governments, regulators and financial institutions need to work on risk management measures NOW with the highest priority. Public budgets are under enormous strain already and would not have the capacity for another bailout like 2008.
Social Distancing sucks – get over it!
I need to socialize. I need my café visits. I need my swims. It is my individual responsibilities to find new ways to stay healthy. Social media can be a real blessing these days. I can stay in touch with my friends globally. I love video chats.

Keep looking for the heroes who maintain common sense and give us hope!
It will all be over one day – don’t do anything you will regret then! Music helps. Deep conversations with your family you usually “don’t have time” for. Reflecting about your own life and purpose.
